The end of the school year is approaching (finally!) However there are a couple of things that can be done over the summer months to set your school up for compliance in the new school year.
The best way to assess any gaps or areas of risk is through an audit. If you haven't yet audited your school this year now would be a great time to carry out an audit on your schools current level of compliance. DPAS have developed a FREE online tool that will be available from the 19th of July. For more information on this tool please email; firstname.lastname@example.org
Register with the ICO
One of the first steps towards compliance is registering with the ICO and choosing a Data Protection Officer. For guidance on who would be the best person placed in the role please see the ICO's recommendations for selecting a DPO.
With the new school year around the corner it's a great time to look at getting all staff up to date on GDPR and Data Protection training as well as new staff that may be joining your school in September. As well as our in-depth training day courses, DPAS also offer online courses to give your staff a solid basic knowledge of the legislation and how it impacts them.
