Primary school leaders (Head teacher, Deputy or Assistant Head) and governors are invited to attend a free conference to share knowledge and establish excellence on whole-school approaches to physical activity. With an increased focus on physical and mental health in the new curriculum from the DfE, and new OFSTED framework, this conference has been organised to showcase best practice from leading experts from Yorkshire and Humber and across the globe. There will also be an opportunity to hear about the latest guidance from the All Party Parliamentary Group for Fit and Healthy Childhood on the PE and School Sport Premium funding guidance. The conference is strategically timed to coincide with school development/ improvement planning for the academic year 19/20.
A secondary aim of the conference is to co-create a framework to support schools to adopt and implement high-quality physical activity, PE and school sport programmes. To achieve this, we have invited 36 regional, national and international experts from schools, education, public health, sporting partners and research to join the day. Their role will be to support participants throughout the event to create an educational experience that promotes physical and mental wellbeing through physical activity. Learning will be taken from the conference event to influence the co-development of a physical activity framework for primary schools. This is a once in a decade opportunity.
