Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development & British Values Training for Governors - 9 May 2018
April 27, 2018
What is spiritual, moral, social and cultural development(SMSC)? How can schools be outstanding in this? What role do governors have? What are Ofsted’s expectations and requirements? What are ‘British Values’ and what is expected of schools and governors? How does this link to safeguarding and the ‘Prevent’ strategy to counter extremism?
SMSC is a key focus in school inspections. The latest Ofsted handbook includes expectations around SMSC, including a range of references to ‘British values’, tolerance and diversity. The government also issued specific guidance around British Values during last year. Governors have vital responsibilities in these areas.
This course will offer a thorough, succinct outline of what schools and governors need to know and do.
The course will take place at 6:00pm on 9th May 2018 at;
The Hudawi Centre
Great Northern Street
Huddersfield, HD1 6BG IT Suite
Kirklees Schools will be charged £80, or the training can be taken as part of the Governor Learning and Development (GLAD package) if your school buys into this service.
