Education Services Committee
Procurement – generic advice for schools to be produced and opportunities for grouped purchasing to be explored;
Maintained School Banking - forms to be reviewed with schools;
Nexus Work Placements – opportunities to be reviewed in wider context of alternative provision.
Education Improvement Committee
Kirklees 2017 Results for EYFS, KS1, KS2 and KS4 – Reading at KS2 top priority to improve;
Successful Round 2 SSIF (Strategic School Improvement Fund) bid for: “Narrowing the gap in reading attainment for disadvantaged pupils” and proposed Round 3 bid for: Early Years;
Teacher Apprenticeships – present rules do not appear to make this route into teaching attractive for schools to participate in.
Improving Teacher Retention/Promoting high quality Headteacher Appointments
A presentation was received from the person who is leading the Bradford LA Teaching Recruitment and Retention campaign and discussion followed. The Education Improvement Committee will now consider what Kirklees LA should do.
