Thank you once again to all the governors who attended the Kirklees Governors Conference on Saturday morning at the Textile Centre of Excellence. Attendance was pleasing despite the regional governors conference held earlier that week at which a number of Kirklees governors attended.
Apart from the fantastic food, the main reasons for attending the conference was to look at: the biggest challenges our schools face, Academy/MAT governance and collaboration, how to improve ourselves as governors and help to improve the schools we are governors at. Hopefully you got some ideas from all the guest speakers/workshop facilitators about how this may be achieved, and also plenty of enthusiasm to make it happen.
Links to all the slides from the conference and all the workshops are available below:
In terms of the input from Jo-Anne Sanders, Assistant Deputy Director (Learning and Skills) governors were advised that the LA would help facilitate a full exploration of what could be the ‘best strategic fit’ for schools and partners. Our next steps is about shaping more formal partnership between schools, settings, LA and other partners. To enable us to do this we are looking at establishing a reference group to deepen engagement. This is open to Heads and Governors, If you are interested in joining this group please email firstname.lastname@example.org
The deadline for any interest in joining this group need to be received by Wednesday, 23 November 2016
