SGOSS are delighted to announce that they will remain open for business. They have secured funding from private donors which will allow them to continue to support schools and volunteers in recruiting and becoming skilled governors. Their backers were influenced by the positive and encouraging feedback that they received to letters and the results of their market survey. Suffice to say that all the team were incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support they received from schools/governors and hope that this comes as welcome news.
What does it mean ?
The governor recruitment service will remain unchanged for the foreseeable future.
For schools/colleges and local authorities; they will continue to address specific recruitment needs and then work to provide schools with candidates who bring the skills and experience schools require. For individual volunteers; they will continue to provide a matching service and will work to find you a governor position at a school/college that requires your skills and experience. For corporate partners; SGOSS will continue to provide bespoke support and impact data reporting for your colleagues. Colleagues will continue to benefit from the Business Governor Network as well as their partnership with the Key.
What does it mean for the school system?
More people and resources to encourage individuals to volunteer and give their time and expertise to schools, as well as the benefits of competition through a choice for schools and candidates to decide who they will work with.
Over the next few years they plan to make a series of small changes and improvements to the services they provide. The over-arching idea is that they will focus on three linked activities: recruitment, training and sustaining governors through the provision of up to date knowledge and tools. They will share more about this towards the end of the autumn term. For now it is business as usual. https://www.sgoss.org.uk
