Thank you once again to all who attended the Kirklees Governor Briefing last Monday evening. We had over 110 governors in attendance, it was wonderful, to have such an extensive representation of schools and academies across the Authority. We hope that you found the briefing both informative and worthwhile. Initial feedback received at the end of the session was very positive.
David Gearing provided governors with an overview of the latest proposals on the Government’s recent launch of two ‘first stage’ consultations about funding that will be of major significance to all schools. There were lots of questions raised and we hope to invite David back to the next briefing to report on any post consultation updates. The consultation closes on 17th April and we would strongly encourage all schools to submit their own responses. https://consult.education.gov.uk/funding-policy-unit/high-needs-funding-reform
Our Chief Executive Adrian Lythgo was delighted for the opportunity to be able to share, listen and discuss with over 100 governors across Kirklees about both what is already happening, and, what the potential could be for the council and schools in 'Building our future together' for the communities that we serve.
It is our aim that the Kirklees Governor Briefings continue to provide a unique opportunity for school leaders to engage in key strategic themes that are relevant and pertinent to you in your role. We would welcome your feedback on the programme and organization so that the future sessions may be even better! please leave any comments on our governor facebook page
We look forward to welcoming you at the next session at which we will discuss our plans for the Kirklees Learning Week. Don’t forget to put the dates below in your diary to avoid disappointment as attendance continues to grow as more of you have expressed how important it is for these networking opportunities and service updates.
The slides and handouts from Monday’s session are available on One Hub so that you can share the information with your whole governing body.
