There are a few service areas within the council who are now using an interim Online DBS system as a precursor to rolling this out across Kirklees. This system is in the early stages of implementation and once fully operational will be rolled out to schools. Due to the change in our governor appointment process (see next article) we are now experiencing a high volume of applications and therefore have taken the decision to move onto this system with immediate effect. All future checks for governors will therefore now be completed on line.
Please note to enable us to process any future governor appointments we will require the name, address and an active email address. We are unable to initiate online DBS checks without an email address.
Governor designates will then be sent 2 emails, one, providing them with log-in information and a link to our online applicant area and a separate email with a password which will allow them to log onto the DBS online system and submit their personal data.
On completion of registration (stage one) “designates” will be required to bring relevant identification documents for checking to an officer of the Governor Clerking Service at Kirkgate Buildings, Huddersfield , who will then complete the final stage of their application before submitting this to be processed. Alternatively ID can still be taken to the school, however copies of relevant ID will need to be taken by the school officer and forwarded to the Governor Clerking Service for processing.
There is an expectation now that all DBS applications are completed within 10 working days of the pre-appointment letter.
